This camp is for high school (9th-12th grade) teams and individuals, and it's three separate camps at the same time and place: Cheer, Dance, and Mascot. The content is similar to larger camps in the area, but our staff-to-camper ratio is much better — typically each squad has two KU staffers all to themselves! All camp material is provided on a DVD plus bonus material. Coaching seminars provide a wealth of information from organization of practices, safety, stunting technique and team bonding.
You'll stay and eat on the beautiful KU campus in air-conditioned Naismith Hall, which has a swimming pool, coffee shop, cafeteria, game room, and even a movie theatre! See below for more details on each camp and see the box on the right for how to attend.
Cheer Camp
Our high school cheer camp is a safe non-competitive environment where you'll learn from the highly skilled KU cheerleaders and coaches. You'll learn:
- Cheers, chants, and motions
- All-girl stunting
- Jumps
- Standing and pass tumbling
- Team bonding and fun
- Seniors may attend a college prep session for info and coed stunting
Dance Camp
At our high school dance camp, you'll learn several routines and work on your technique with the talented Rock Chalk Dancers and coaches. You may also sign up for a personally choreographed dance just for your team.
Mascot Camp
Work with KU's Big Jay and Baby Jay mascots to:
- Learn the do's and don'ts of being a mascot
- Improving your fan interaction
- Work on your in-game antics
- Learn how to prepare timeout skits.
